But on a higher level, the confrontation with Nietzsche's metaphysics is the confrontation with nihilism, as one of whose political manifestations fascism has increasingly emerged.

Rather, it is here that the consummation of the modern era begins, and indeed in a much deeper — i.e., in a much more comprehensive and intervening way than in fascism; it is true that this began in the “Romantic” in general — with regard to the humanization of man in self-assured reasonableness, but for its completion it requires the decisiveness of the historical-technical in the sense of the complete “mobilization” of all the faculties of humanity left to its own devices. It is equally insane — i.e., a reversal of innermost relations of essence — to want to fight Bolshevism by means of the racial principle (as if both did not have the same metaphysical root in fundamentally different forms) and to try to save Russianness by means of fascism (as if both, different by an abyss, did not exclude any essential unity).
Accordingly, authoritarian “socialism” (in the variations of fascism and National Socialism) is a corresponding (not the same) form of the completion of modern times.
National Socialism is not Bolshevism, and this is not Fascism — but both are machinative victories of machination — huge forms of perfection of modern times — a calculated consumption of folkdom.

But we should also know for ourselves that the confrontation with “democracy” and its counterpart, fascism, is never an essential one, because, remaining in the political, it fails to recognize that metaphysics and its essential domination are up for decision.
