MH: I have not given freedom to myself although I can be the self that I am only through being free. The self that I am, however, now not in the sense that Dasein is the really fundamental event in which the act of existing of man, and with that, every problematic of existence as such essentially comes about.
The closer we come to the danger, the more brightly do the ways into the saving power begin to shine and the more questioning we become. For questioning is the piety of thought.
Sculpture would be the embodiment of places. Places, in preserving and opening a region, hold something free gathered around them which grants the tarrying of things under consideration and a dwelling for man in the midst of things.

Translated byI follow Heidegger's insistence that the Da of Dasein does not refer to a "there", as well as his suggestions that Dasein not be translated as "being-here" or "being-there."2 Rather, in keeping with Heidegger's frequently repeated indications, I interpret
- Da as "the open" (namely, for all forms of being or "is")
- Da-sein as "openness" (i.e., "being-the-open," "being-open," or "the open-that-we-are").
