7. The Parting | 15
The parting is arrival, not into the presencing of something at hand, but rather inceptive arrival, which withdraws into itself, holding within it its most distant distance.
The essence of unconcealment and event are here to be thought together, in order to think always in the inceptive, without slipping away into “sequential” representation.
Parting also does not mean, here, loss and renunciation, nor does it signify a relationship between beings or something experienced from out of them.
Only at home with beyng are we capable of knowing something of the incipience of inception and of thinking the parting.
The receding into the parting appears completely negative if we think metaphysically. But if we inquire after beyng onto-historically, it is inception.
The event of inception is the receding.
The receding is the parting.
The parting is the intimacy of the inceptive appropriating which—in the parting—is pure poetizing, a poetizing that remains inceptive before all the poetry of the “poet” and the modes of thought of the “thinker.” {GA 70: 25}
The parting is the concealment of the inception into the intimacy of its event-like incipience.
The overcoming of metaphysics (the truth of beings) is the onto-historical prelude to the twisting-free of beyng itself.
The receding of beyng into the incipience of the parting.
The event of inception is the receding into the parting.
Receding and parting are not “negativa” but the incipience of the intimacy of inception.
In the telling that says the event of inception in its onto-historical provenance, the “co-responding” [Ent-sprechung] holds sway.
Language stems from the parting.
Language answers to the inception.
The co-responding is twofold.
And because, here, the telling is of the parting, it must therefore be spoken from the proximity and closeness of the most ordinary possessing.
Being in the possession of the “differentiation.”
The differentiation—the parting.
The parting is the receding of unconcealment beneath the shelter of the dignity that, as the intimacy of the safeguarding arrival, remains behind in inceptive distance and keeps open the inception in its uniqueness.
The inceptive incipience of inception first begins in the parting. Here it is not a matter of effect, nor of cause.
