16 | I. The Incipience of Inception
The parting assigns to each what is proper to it and abandons them in this, thus vouchsafing the arising of beings from themselves.
All arising-forth of beings toward beings is appropriative event. Parting is not end and cessation, but it is the ultimacy of inception, through which it withdraws into itself, intercepting incipience in itself, purely in order to begin and this alone.
The “ultimacy” of inception is only the inceptuality of its firstness, that is, concealment. Concealment itself begins in the parting; and only now can unconcealment be a bestowal, one whose gift never diminishes the abundance of the singular.
In the parting, the inception intercepts itself in its dignity, resounding into the singularity of the stillness, which nor time nor eternity could possibly measure, as the singularity brooks no measurement and needs no duration to ensure its continuance.
However, if it is explained and reckoned from out of beings, the receding essence of beyng, preserving its inceptive dignity in the parting, is utterly meaningless. If metaphysics and worldview were able to pull themselves together to declare beyng to be the meaningless, then they might yet reach whatever vicinity of beyng their forgetfulness of being permits. This distortion of beyng can, of course, never encounter beyng itself.
All metaphysics is unsuited to the parting, that is, it is incapable of inception.
The veiling of inception consists in its calling the parting to itself in incipient seizing [An-fangen], stopping it in advance, but in such a way that it emerges as emergence and veils concealment in the acknowledgment of the preeminence of unconcealment. The veiling of inception belongs to incipience.
The veiling gives a hint as to the inceptive essence of the differentiation of beyng and beings.
The veiling is the innermost concealment.
The nothing belongs, also, to the veiled essence of beyng. The nothing, as the in-between granted in the differentiation, belongs to inception. For this is appropriative event, and appropriative event is the inter-vening of the inbetween.
